Homemade Drawing Grid

This is a grid made with Plexiglas, to aid me in drawing mechanical things - to get the proportions right.
I used a cheapo T-square and a X-Acto knife to cut the grid, which is in 1" squares. I did make notches every 1/2 inch as well. I used a bit of ink to darken the lines, with usable results - I also tried some enamel paint as well, but only ended up with a nasty mess.
The grid is 8"x12", about the size of a regular 3 ring binder. This is a partial picture; my scanner, for some reason, didn't pick up the whole thing.
I'll try it out and comment about it's usefulness later. I'm just really proud of myself - I used some leftover Plexiglas that we were going to just throw away...and I made something useful out of it! Cool!

1969 Ford Mustang Drawing

My first drawing of the year! Just pencil and paper this time, folks. (Mirado Black Warrior pencils).
This was done from a photo in my husbands' classic car calendar. It is a 1969 Mustang Mach 1. I omitted the HUGE air intake from the original photo, because it broke up the natural line of the car (it made it look boxy and ugly - not what I want!).
I'm not really good at drawing cars, and I have decided this year to focus more on drawing cars, motorcycles, and machinery in general.
My first attempt at a motorcycle (and so far my ONLY attempt) is on my drawing 'Anthro Biker Wolf': http://fav.me/d2ds961
This is my first drawing of a car that actually came out looking like what it is SUPPOSED to be - so be gentle and constructive with your criticism, please :D

Crochet Soap Savers!

I made these with some of my leftover yarn. You can put a whole bar of soap in them, or put little bars of soap, or leftover soap slivers - and then lather up with the bag. That way, you don't waste leftover soap! Hence - soap saver!
The basic soap saver pattern is at Joy of Life.
The first one I made true to the pattern, but the rainbow one is my creation entirely!

Beanis

I got the pattern for the crochet beanis at The AntiCraft

Mine is about 16" long, made with worsted weight yarn and an E hook (NOT EASY!) and it is filled with plastic pellets. It is made with chiefly single crochet, with some slip stitches, sc increases and sc decreases. This was quite time consuming...it might be the first and last one I make. It is a gift for a friend who has a somewhat raunchy sense of humor - I think she'll love it!

Plarn Tote Bag

This crochet bag was made out of plarn; yarn made from plastic bags. I got the pattern through Crochet Pattern Central. Oh - here it is!
I altered the pattern a bit. I continued to crochet around, adding rounds to rnds 5-7 (I think I ended up doing rounds 5-11 like that, then following the remainder of the pattern).
There are quite a few tutorials on how to make plarn, including some stuff on youtube, but be warned - this stuff is hard to work with until you get the hang of it - the results are truly amazing! It stretches to accommodate things that have a weird shape, and it definitely gets the attention of the checkers at the supermarket (and other patrons!).
