Santa Hat, and my new hat model...

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, Glad Yule, Bright Hanukkah, or Joyous Kwanzaa! Here is a holiday treat:

I've gotten tired of modeling my own hats, so I decided to have the dog model for this one. Of course, it is MUCH bigger than his head!
I got the original pattern from Danette's Angels, but since it was designed as a child's hat, I had to continue increasing until it fit my head.
Don't worry, I'll type it down and post it here soon, for everyone to enjoy!

The red part was done in rounds of single crochet. The white cuff is a strip that I carefully measured to have a few more stitches than the red hat part. I used white yarn to single crochet the two parts together on the rim of the hat. Then I made a pretty white pompom and attached it.

Crochet Snowflakes!

These were all worked from the book:

I used white yarn with an additional silvery white metallic thread, and various hooks (depending on the motif) to get the size I wanted. I added a gold metallic yarn loop later, so that these snowflake gifts can be used as ornaments for the holiday season.
I saturated them with starch, let them get dry and crisp, attached the loop, and sent them on to their new homes.
Cool, huh?

My first chevron crochet afghan.

A beautiful blue and white chevron blanket that I crocheted in worsted weight yarn. The first and second are single crochet, and the rest of the blanket is a nice, loose double crochet. This is to be a gift for a friend, although it is going to take me a while to get it to him. Hopefully, he doesn't check this page! I couldn't help boasting a little, though - this is my first afghan, as well as my first attempt at chevrons. Came out good, huh?
