A Frog

This is a drawing from my sketchbook. I did it a few years ago, and it STILL looks cool. GO ME!!!!

A Yule Thing that I forgot to post...

This wasn't the first wreath that I ever made - but it sure is the most awesome one!
Believe it or not, I found a synthetic (plastic and wire) wreath in the garbage at my apartment complex and fished it out. I fluffed it back up, attached some tiny pine cones with craft wire, and bought some ribbon and plastic poinsettias for less than $5. I made a beautiful bow with the ribbon, wrapped a length of ribbon around the wreath, added the poinsettias, and VOILA! A beautiful wreath.

It made me feel so good to finish this project! It was mostly good 'ol elbow grease that got this one done!

Falcon Freya sketch

Here is a sketch that I did at the Frigga blot - it is a layout for my (hopefully) next painting, Falcon Freya!

Hope you all like!

Yet another Freya, War Goddess sketch...

I did another Freya sketch, this one from a really awesome drawing that my friend did. I just loved the pose so much, I HAD to use it. Thanks, Krystina!

Hella Portrait

I had a Hel of a time with this one - I did it in graphite, and when I scanned it, the graphite would reflect, so I'd get little white patches...arrrgh! I ended up having to abandon the copier and take a photo, then manipulating it in Microsoft's Picture Manager.

Hela Drawing

It came out pretty cool, although I do like the original better.

Odin Wants YOU for Valhalla!

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s274/audreydc1983/Artwork/OdinWantsYOU-2.jpg?t=1237445581

This painting is one that I did on a lark - it was just an idea that wouldn't go away, not until I painted it out of my head. This one sold almost immediately, and I've had requests for posters to be made.

In due time!

Blessings of Odin,

Aud

Nerthus, Earth Goddess

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s274/audreydc1983/Artwork/Nerthus.jpg
Unfortunately, with Nerthus, I had little to work with. I have to admit that my artwork is best when it comes from structure - in the case of Gods and Goddesses, this structure is the myths that surround them. I wrote a bit about Nerthus in my Charming of the Plow packet (which, in the excitement of the whole experience, forgot to give to Troy…oops, my bad). So, since it is easily looked up on Wikipedia and the like, I will not delve deep into the history of Nerthus, just my UPG (Unsubstantiated Personal Gnosis). AGAIN - this is my own PERSONAL feelings of Nerthus.
Nerthus is a goddess of fresh, standing water - that of ponds and lakes. This is why I depicted her dipping her feet into a pond. She is a goddess of preparation - preparing the earth for the new season. I put flowers in her hair - a sign of the coming spring. Continuing in that vein, she is an earth goddess - our careful preparation of the soil leads to fruitful results. Her dark hair, the color of moist, nutrient-rich earth was not an accident. It may also be obvious to you all that she is a big girl - as many earth goddesses were depicted. Being shown in this way is a very primal statement - it means that the fruitfulness of the earth will lead to prosperity -which equals more food to eat.

All in all, I think it came out well. I particularly like the expression on her face, and was told by others that they liked it too. I must be doing something right!

HAIL NERTHUS!
